- Wrestling foundation: A native of Wheat Ridge, Colorado, Colgan developed his work ethic as a successful high school and collegiate wrestler. At the University of Wyoming, he became a two-time NCAA qualifier and a Big 12 conference champion.
- Career change: After college, Colgan worked a corporate sales job but realized his desire for competition was unfulfilled. A chance meeting with a former teammate led him to the gym, where he developed a passion for MMA.
- Undefeated record: Since transitioning to MMA, Colgan has compiled an impressive record, including wins in Bellator and, most recently, in the PFL. His impressive 13-0 record includes five victories by (T)KO and one by submission.
