About Tae Darnell, JD

Tae Darnell, is a multi-faceted attorney. Since beginning the practice of law, he has left an indelible mark on the cannabis, sports, and entertainment industries. He has also excelled as a business owner (co-founder of Surna, Inc., Sensi Media Group, LLC, and OrganaPharma), making him extremely effective in the integration of both legal expertise with C-level leadership. Formerly General Counsel for APSE, representing sports legends such as Barry Sanders, Jerome Bettis, Eddie George, Willie Roaf, and more, Tae has a comprehensive background as a former NFL Agent and VP of GoListen Music Distribution.
 
A nine-time MVP Nominee in the Cannabis Business Awards, Tae is recognized for co-founding the Cannabis Law Center (CLG) in 2008. At CLG, he pioneered full-time cannabis law practice, played a pivotal role in Colorado’s transition to regulated legalization, and drafted the globally acclaimed Colorado Model for cannabis regulation. His contributions extend to the passage of Amendment 64, the groundbreaking adult-use initiative. He was also involved in drafting medical marijuana legislation in Hawaii and tribal legislation in North America. Notably, Tae served as the attorney for the Denver 420 Rally, a historic event credited with catalyzing global cannabis legalization. Active in industry associations, Tae has contributed to the National Cannabis Industry Association and served on the boards of the National Hemp Association and the Rocky Mountain Region Board for the Anti-Defamation League.
 
Beyond law, Tae’s passions include collaborations with Grammy and Emmy winners, NFL and NBA athletes, and participating as part of the leadership team of one of the largest independent record labels in the country.
