Scottsdale Airport Fatal Crash: Learjet 35A Collides with Parked Plane

On February 10th, a Learjet 35A (N81VN), owned by Mötley Crüe lead singer Vince Neil, veered off the left side of Runway 21 at Scottsdale Airport, Arizona (SCF) during landing and crashed into a parked Gulfstream 200 (N199DF). The impact was severe, causing the parked aircraft to shift significantly. Initial reports indicate that the Learjet’s landing gear may have collapsed, contributing to the accident. The cockpit of the Learjet 35A (N81VN) was completely crushed, and the wreckage required extensive work to separate the two aircraft. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have launched investigations to determine the exact cause of the crash.

The Learjet’s pilot did not survive, while two other occupants sustained serious injuries and another suffered moderate injuries. Emergency responders arrived quickly, rescuing a trapped passenger and assessing potential fuel leaks or fire hazards (no fire was reported). Vince Neil was not aboard the plane at the time, but his girlfriend, Rain, was among the injured passengers, reportedly suffering multiple rib fractures. Mötley Crüe issued a statement expressing their condolences, while Neil personally thanked first responders and extended his sympathies to those affected.

Who Was on Board Learjet 35A?

Vince Neil was not present on the aircraft during the crash. However, his girlfriend, Rain Hannah, along with two other crew members, were onboard and sustained injuries. Tragically, the pilot of the Learjet did not survive the impact. According to Neil’s attorney, Worrick Robinson, the aircraft carried a total of four occupantstwo passengers and two crew members. N81VN Investigation and Authorities Involved

FAA and NTSB Investigation

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) have launched formal investigations into the Scottsdale Airport jet collision. While the exact cause remains undetermined, initial reports suggest that the arriving midsize business jet may have experienced mechanical issues or landing complications before colliding with the parked aircraft.

Emergency responders, including Scottsdale Fire Department, local police, and hazmat teams, were on-site immediately after the crash. Fire crews conducted air quality tests in nearby buildings to ensure no hazardous fuel leaks or airborne toxins were present. At the time of the report, one individual was still trapped in the wreckage, and rescue efforts were ongoing.

Officials have declined to answer media questions while the scene remains active but have promised a formal investigation update around 6:00 PM. The runway remains closed as authorities continue their assessments, and further details are expected as evidence is collected and analyzed.
