On June 21, 2018 Dr. Jim Hoven had the chance to speak to 15 students, ages 14-16 in the CASA Fostering Futures Program. The CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) program is a critical piece in the lives of many kids who are in the foster care system, and the Fostering Futures portion of CASA allows kids to meet and interact with professionals who offer messages of hope, instruction and learning.

One of the primary objectives of Ramos Law’s social initiatives is to make a difference in the lives of children. When the director of the Fostering Futures program, LeeAnn Robbins asked if we would be willing to share some information with the kids that they could use to improve their lives today as well as their futures in the weeks, months and even years to come, we jumped at the opportunity. Dr. Hoven has been speaking to youth groups since 1990 so he was chosen to do the first presentation to Fostering Futures.

While there are many messages that could be shared with these young people, Dr. Hoven decided to focus on what he calls the BDH principle. BDH stands for Beliefs, Decisions, and Habits and he considers this principle to be fundamental in creating a life of balance, joy and success.

“I’ve enjoyed an amazing life and when I learned the power of the BDH principle, it was like unlocking a door that led to results beyond what I ever thought possible. I was so excited to share that message with these kids so they might enjoy everything I got from it, and even more!”
