On November 4, 2018, a dozen supporters of law enforcement came together to serve food and drinks to thousands of fans who came to watch the Denver Broncos and the Houston Texans battle it out at Broncos Stadium at Mile High. Members of The Blue Knights, a motorcycle club made up of current and retired law enforcement officers and their loved ones has been working the concession stand for over two years and has mastered the art of getting the goodies delivered hot and tasty to fans of both teams. Dr. Jim Hoven, Director of Operations for Ramos Law and his wife Shawna proudly serve on the Board of Directors for the Concerns Of Police Survivors, or C.O.P.S., a volunteer organization that supports the families of fallen officers. Through some great training on how to run a concession stand by several of The Blue Knights, Jim and Shawna took on the challenge of running a cash register as well as prepping and serving food to rabid football fans.
Through its efforts, the Blue Knights has raised tens of thousands of dollars for law enforcement related charities, one of which is C.O.P.S. After the game, Dr. Hoven said, “This was one of the most challenging and rewarding volunteer efforts I’ve ever done. The speed that these people (The Blue Knights) process information, prep food and get it to the customers is unbelievable. Just trying to stay caught up is a monumental effort and The Blue Knights get it done every single game…and they do it all for charity!”
