The first Friday of May each year represents both a very sad and a very special occasion for Coloradans. Each year, the law enforcement community gathers to remember and honor officers lost in line of duty deaths during the previous 12 months. This year, the event was held on May 4th and hundreds of people gathered to support the families of the fallen specifically, and law enforcement in general.
Dr. Jim Hoven, Director of Operations for Ramos Law, and his wife Shawna attended the event as Trustees to the Board of Directors for the Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.). Dr. Jim talked about the experience and said, “This is our second year being a part of this crucial event. We’ve had several law enforcement officers in our family and I can’t imagine the pain that goes along with a line of duty death. Having the families of the fallen together to honor their loved ones and then to have a special meal with them after the ceremony can’t fix the pain, but it can let these dear people know that they’re not alone.”
Following the ceremony, C.O.P.S. supplied a catered meal for the families and interacted with them to share the mission and vision of C.O.P.S. as well as to provide much needed support. Ramos Law supports law enforcement and is committed to helping officers remain safe while on duty through their Get Home Safe program.
